Professional Summary Description: I am an experienced Australian and New Zealand Quality Auditor, being an auditor for the Australian University Quality Agency (AUQA), the NZ Academic Audit Unit, and the NZ Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics Quality organisation (ITPQ) for 5 years until ITPQ functions were absorbed by the NZ Qualifications Authority rnrnI was AUQA panellist auditing the University of New England in 2009. I was also a panellist conducting a trial audit of Charles Darwin University in 2010. I am on the NZ Academic Audit Unit panel which will audit the University of Otago in October, 2011.rnrnI was a member of panels for full audits of Otago Polytechnic, and the Southern Institute of Technology for ITPQ. I have undertaken programme and degree accreditations at WinTec (Waikato Institute of Technology), Whitireira Polytechnic, Otago Polytechnic, and the Southern Institute of Technology.rnrnI am an experienced reviewer. I was team member for the review of the Global Learning Division of the University of Southern Queensland. I reviewed the Teaching and Learning Quality and Community Engagement Groups (the Pro-Vice Chancellor; Teaching, Learning and Community Engagementâ??s management line) at Charles Darwin University in 2011 and was invited back to implement the review recommendations and facilitate the new structure. rnrnMy discipline is Higher Education and eLearning. I wrote, introduced and teach the Post Graduate Certificate of Tertiary Teaching at Massey. I was Director of Academic Development and eLearning at Massey University for 10 years before promotion to Associate Professor and an academic role. This area is the focus of my research which includes; leading the team which developed the eLearning Guidelines, investigating the impact of academic development on student learning, investigating the effectiveness of blended approaches to teaching and learning, and identifying factors affecting student engagement in the sciences. My consultancy experience includes advising on and implementing an academic development programme at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey.rnrnIn 2007, I was elected President of the Australasian Council on Open, Distance and eLearning, (ACODE) and re-elected in 2009. ACODE is the peak Australasian body in the area of open, distance and elearning and includes all but 2 Australian Universities, all NZ Universities, and the University of the South Pacific. rnrnI have a high profile in my specialist area across the Australasian region and beyond. As well as my roles in both ACODE and Ako Aotearoa, I am a member of NZâ??s Tertiary eLearning Reference Group, executive member of both HERDSANZ and DEANZ, and on the organising committee for the 2012 ascilite conference.rnrnI led the Massey team awarded the $20,000,000.00 contract to host Ako Aotearoa, New Zealandâ??s National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence and retain a major role in that organisation. I have extensive experience in winning and leading funded projects responsible for projects valued at more than $3,000,000.00 over the past few years.
