Professional Summary Description: "Till my retirement in July, 2019, I worked at the Open University of Sri Lanka for nearly 32 years in different capacities : as the Acting Vice Chancellor in two occasions, Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2006- 2012, Head of the Department of Education from 2003-2006 etc. I passed my Bachelors¡¯ degree with a first class honors. I was awarded a full-time Commonwealth Scholarship to complete my Ph.D at the Open University of UK. I have written two books on Educational Research Methods and Participated in a large number of local and foreign Conferences as a presenter. Recently I had the opportunity to visit Nepal University to do a Key Note Speech in the conference conducted in 2019. My last QA activity at the Open University of Sri Lanka was related to the development of Section 1 of the Self Evaluation Report for the Institutional Review which was held in 2020. I was able to participate in two short term capacity building programmes sponsored by the DFID Project. World Bank : one was conducted by the Open University of United Kingdom and the other by the Open University of Malaysia. Further, I contributed as a programme team member in the development of a teacher education programme titled as Master of Arts in Teacher Education (OUSL) which received the Commonwealth award for best material development. Since 2007 I have been participating in workshops conducted by the UGC, Sri Lanka for the development and review of Quality Assurance manuals. I worked as a team leader and team member for the above mentioned Institutional Reviews and Programme Reviews of state Universities, Non-state Universities and reviews of external degree programmes of state Universities. Under World Bank consultancies, I headed the team of members of Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Education for verification of their activities in a number of occasions. I completed a one year consultancy (2017) to the Ministry of Education to develop a programme for identification of children entering to grade 1 ( Happy Start for School Education) which was introduced to the school System by the National Institute of Education, Sri Lanka ."
