Professional Summary Description: Dr. Hesham received his PhD in Computer Science in 2000 from the University Warwick. In 1993 he received his Masters of Science degree in system sciences from the University of Louisiana. He received his Bachelorâ??s degree in computer engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Since 2000, he has been teaching courses ranging from Automata and Formal Languages to Computer and Network Security and Discrete Mathematics at University of Bahrain. While teaching at UOB Dr. Hesham thoroughly prepared his presentations, developed and taught many different courses with well-thought-out projects and hands-on laboratories and established a very good record as a teacher. Dr. Hesham has more than 10 years of professional experience. He is a member of ACM for more than 18 years. rn rnFrom 2003 to 2007 he served as the Chair of the Computer Science Department. He developed the B.Sc. in Computer Science curriculum at the University of Bahrain. While serving as the Chair he modernized the curriculum, created new laboratories for programming languages, computer architecture and operating systems, expanded and hired new faculty members, increased the quality of teaching, established professional network and revitalized the department. Since 2005 he Chaired the Departmental Accreditation Committee for ABET accreditation. He has been providing the leadership and working on ABET accreditation preparations for the Engineering and Information Technology programs at the University of Bahrain. His continued interest in creating, revising, modernizing and developing courses indicate a lifetime commitment to quality education. rn rnDr. Hesham is the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation at the only national university in Bahrain. He designed the internal quality assurance processes within the University and coordinates accreditation activities and institutional reviews. He participated in several program reviews and lead the efforts for two institutional review preparations from AUQA in 2007 and from the Bahraini QAAET in 2010.rnrnWithin the Bahrain Center for Excellence, he participated in the review of several ministries and government organizations using the BCE criteria.
