Professional Summary Description: I am a recognized European quality assurance expert with nineteen years higher education experience working at institutional, national and European levels. I have been instrumental in the design, delivery and management of national quality assurance processes for the university sector in Wales and Ireland, and am a member of the ENQA Pool of Experts. I am an experienced project manager, currently responsible for the design, delivery and management of the Institutional Review of Irish Universities (IRIU) process operating in accordance with national and European standards and guidelines. I previously represented the HE sector in Wales on the development of the UKâ??s National Student Survey and the Teaching Quality Information/Unistats websites, and have also been responsible for the establishment of institutional and national procedures and policies for enhancing the effectiveness of student engagement in the quality of the learning experience. rnrnI have spent the last decade actively engaging with European higher education policy developments, largely through the Bologna process, at institutional and national levels. I was recently an International Expert for the Welsh Credit and Qualification Framework (CQFW) referencing alignment process against the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning, and have presented in seminars and conferences in Brussels, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Swansea in relation to this work. In October 2010 I completed an ENQA review of the national quality assurance agency for universities in the Netherlands (QANU) and in October 2011 will undertake an Institutional Review for the National Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) in Lithuania.rnrnWithin my current post as Reviews Manager with the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB), I have been responsible for developing, managing and monitoring the effectiveness of the Institutional Review of Irish Universities (IRIU) process. IRIU was developed in 2008/09 to ensure that Irish universities were operating in accordance with national legislation and the Part 1 European Standards and Guidelines (ESG). I led the IUQB in the development of the key principles and requirements of this quality enhancementâ??led review method, managed the consultation process with key stakeholders and launched the approved method in March 2009. I also manage the recruitment, selection, training and deployment process for the national and international experts appointed to the IRIU Register of Reviewers and provide ongoing advice and guidance to Irish universities engaging with the method.
