Professional Summary Description: Prof. Dr. Klaus Schäfer: Receiving his master in mathematics and a doctorate in business administration and economics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernd Rudolph at the Frankfurt Goethe-University he worked from 1993 to 2000 as an assistant professor of finance at the Munich School of Management at Ludwig-Maximilians-University. There he did his habilitation, the German post-doctoral degree, having worked on delegation and portfolio management in 2000. From 2000 to 2006 he held positions at the Universitiy of Cologne, the Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck, and the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg. Since 2006 he is a full professor of finance and banking at the University of Bayreuth where he also joins the boards of the Research Center in Bank Policy and Bank Regulation, the Research Center in Family Firms, the Research Center in Consumer Law and the Research Center of Companies, Capital Markets & Taxes. Since 2007 he is member of the board of the Bayreuth Research Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises BF/M (http://www.bfm-bayreuth.de/) . He is the academic director of the Bayreuth Bachelor programme (B. Sc.) and the Master programme (M. Sc.) in Business Administration and Economics. He also joins the examination board of the Bayreuth economics programmes. He is the academic director of the Bayreuth-Shanghai joint programme in Business Administration and Economics.
