Nominee Application Form: Part C Please write a professional profile of 500 words. Professional Summary Description: My name is Mrs. Patricia Ncube. I am a Deputy Director, Affiliated Institutions University of Botswana in Gaborone. Botswana. I joined the University of Botswana in 2003 having been an employee of the Ministry of Health since 1981. I served as lecturer and Coordinator of Registered Nursing Programme at the National Health Institute in Gaborone from 1981 to 1989. In 1992 to 1995 I did my Master of Science in Nursing and Post Graduate Certificate Nursing Education at Wayne State University in Michigan, In 1996 I was back home and I joined the Ministry of Health Headquarters where I served as Curriculum Coordinator with a major responsibility of developing a Curriculum Unit for the Health Training Institutions in Botswana where I was charged with the responsibility to monitor the quality of training. That Unit is now fully functional with the relevant quality procedures and processes in place. In 2003, I joined the University of Botswana as Assistant Director – Affiliated Health Training Institutions and took responsibility for providing leadership and advice in development and implementation of quality assurance systems for Affiliated Health Training Institutions; development and monitoring of processes of examinations, and undertaking research and publishing relevant to affiliation, quality assurance and examination systems. In 2005, I was appointed Deputy Director – Affiliated Institutions with the expanded role of taking care of eight Affiliated Health Training Institutions and six Colleges of Education. I continue to be responsible for installation and implementation of quality standards and criteria for the affiliated institutions; undertaking research activities to enrich the Unit and establishing links with other quality assurance agencies. I serve in various committees and Boards in and outside the University of Botswana in various capacities. My areas of interest are: Curriculum Development; Quality Assurance; Education and Health Care; Educational Management; Auditing and Validation; Leadership and Management and Tool Development: Standards and Criteria. I am currently in from 2014-15 serving as the Acting Director - Centre for Academic Development at the University of Botswana. I supervise five major Units namely: Teaching a nd Learning; Communication & Study Skills; Programme Review; Educational Technology and Affiliated Institutions. These units run quality assurance activities in teaching and learning. We conduct programme and institutional reviews and guide programme approvals.
