Professional Summary Description: Syun Tutiya was trained as a philosopher of logic, language, mind and action, employed by Chiba University in 1982 as associate professor and then as professor, served as director of the computer center, library, foreign langauge center, international exchange center for 12 years intermittently as well as as chair of local outreach committee, international exchange committee, internal auditing committee. In April, 2011, he moved to the National Institute for Awarding Degrees and University Evaluation, after being involved in the certified institutional evaluation and accreditation of more than 10 universities for three years. His research interests have included research in the history of logic, the philosophy of language, mind and action, formal semantics, and situation semantics in particular, the history of technology in the modern Japan, spoken dialog analysis, document processing, information ethics and library and information science.rnrnHis expertise lies in the theoretical and philosophical foundation of knowledge management including the creation and transmission of knowledge in higher education institutions with special focus on information infrastructure, the coordination of international collaborative activities in research and education. rnrnIn the current capacity as professor of the National Institute for Awading Degrees and University Evaluation, he is involved in the certified institutional evaluation and accreditation of universities, planning for international and domestic collaboration of quality assurance agencies, and other related activities.
