Nominee Application Form: Part C Please write a professional profile of 500 words. Professional Summary Description: "Eng. (Dr.) Sudhira De Silva received his B.Sc. Eng. (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering and PG. Dip in Structural Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, M. Eng. and PhD in Structural Engineering from the Saitama University, Japan. Since then he served as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. Dr. De Silva is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL), Society of Structural Engineers Sri Lanka (SSE-SL) and Japan Concrete Institute (JCI). He served as an evaluation panel member of IESL Accreditation Team and Subject Review Panel of Ministry of Higher Education & Highways. His teaching includes courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Building Materials, Design of Concrete Structures and Concrete Technology. His research includes studies mainly on Seismic vulnerability assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings, Durability of Concrete Structures and Development of Bridge Management Systems for RC and PC Bridges. He published several full length research articles in national and international journals and conferences. Dr. De Silva served on several national and university level committees including Research Council, CIDA, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), By- Law Revision, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and several Technical Evaluation Committees.
